Book Review, Falling Completely by Aidan Willows

REVIEWED BY Micky Barnard

Falling Completely by Aidan Willows
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was a read of likes and dislikes for me. It is a debut novel and what I can say is that essentially I liked the storyline even though it was somewhat predictable.

“Oh, how perfect. A firefighter and a nurse. It’s like a Hallmark Movie.”

Two sisters come from London, one (Niki) to run their aunts bakery in the US, the other accompanying her sister. Liya (a nurse) attends Caleb after a concussion following an roadside accident. These two did have chemistry and their text dialogue was quite hilarious. However, there were some elements I stuggled with. Firstly some of the general dialogue was rather frantic, even when I took into consideration a chaotic family setting. Second, the sexual description was a bit too cheesy and cliché for me to engage with the burgeoning relationship between Caleb and Liya which was also a little fast moving. I’m also not sure about Caleb’s inner monologue. Liya as a character was my favourite, mostly snarky and real until she got into a sexual situation with Caleb.

Overall, this was a solid read with a story that was sweet.
